Edwin J. George O'Rear was a tavernkeeper, lawyer and a judge.1 He was born on 5 June 1827 at Montgomery County, Kentucky.1 From the O'Rear Family Sketches:

George O’Rear Goes to Boston

George O’Rear was a son of Colonel Jeremiah C. O’Rear of Montgomery County, kentucky, and became an attorney at law. For a time he was a tavern keeper in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, later moving to Texas. He was a Confederate Soldier, serving in a Texas regiment. His son, George O’Rear of New York City gave me this account. George O’Rear as a young man drove a herd of cattle all of the way from Kentucky to Boston, Mass. (This could have been about 1840, see sketch entitled Politics, the Livestock Market, and General Andy Jackson in 1828 As Related by Irwin O'Rear). After selling the cattle he was arrested for smoking his pipe on the streets of Boston.2 He married Amanda Breedlove McWilliams on 18 March 1845 at Madison County, Kentucky, Alexander C. McWilliams was bondsman.3,1 Edwin J. George O'Rear appeared on the census of 1850 at Montgomery County, Kentucky.4 He married Ann Elizabeth Hubbard on 19 March 1861 at Mapleton, Kansas.1 Edwin J. George O'Rear died before 1880.5
