Military Academy at West Point, New York. He served in the Air Corps of the U. S. Army during World War II. He was transferred to the U. S. Air Force upon its creation, and served in it during the Korean War. When he was a Brigadier General, in 1958 at the creation of the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, he was assigned there as Commandant of Cadets. Upon the retirement of General Curtis LeMay as Chief of Staff of the U. S. Air Force, Sullivan was one of the candidates considered as LeMay's successor. Sullivan retired with the rank of Major General to live in California where he was living with his wife when he died. He married Jane (?).8 Major General Henry Riggs Sullivan USAF died on 7 March 1992 at Riverside, California, at age 76.2
