25. George ORear Goes to Boston
George ORear was a son of Colonel Jeremiah C. ORear of Montgomery County, Kentucky, and became an attorney at law. For a time he was a tavern keeper in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, later moving to Texas. He was a Confederate Soldier, serving in a Texas regiment. His son, George ORear of New York City gave me this account. George ORear as a young man drove a herd of cattle all of the way from Kentucky to Boston, Mass. (This could have been about 1840, see sketch 22). After selling the cattle he was arrested for smoking his pipe on the streets of Boston.
